This classic three-bedroom apartment originally included staff quarters, one-and-a-half bathrooms, and a notably small kitchen. It was the third renovation we completed for this client, so we had a clear understanding of their needs and preferences.

We transformed the former staff room into a compact yet fully functional home office, complete with a full bathroom and washer/dryer—making careful use of every cubic inch. We also added an additional bathroom for their son, cleverly carved out of one of his closets. The HVAC system was upgraded to modern through-the-wall heating and cooling units, allowing for individual temperature control in each room.

The living room was located at the far end of the apartment from the entrance—an arrangement not uncommon in New York City. To enhance the connection between the two, we reimagined the main hallway as a gracious, high-ceilinged passage punctuated by arched openings at both ends. The result: a functional, elegant space with a sense of drama and flow.
