How often do you get the opportunity to create a geothermal brownstone in a Richard Morris Hunt residence in New York City? The client was open to drilling a 1000’ well under his home creating a revolutionary heating and cooling system for this 15,000 sf residence. The brownstone was a rare 40’ wide townhouse that allowed us to produce a 20’x20’ four-story atrium, bringing light throughout the entire home. With a combination of geothermal heat and cooling, we also provided an energy recovery ventilation (ERV) system that filled the entire house with fresh air without costing any lost conditioned air.
